Welcome to The Mysterious Bookcase
We are Ally and Matt (and sometimes Harry).
The Mysterious Bookcase started in October 2022. Our signature product, Blind Date With a Book, was created out of Ally's love for reading and her obsession with secondhand books, as well as Matt's interest in the mystery aspect around this bookish gift. We wanted to create a cozy gift for all book lovers, and thought the addition of tea, a luxury chocolate and a customisable bookmark made the package complete!
We are based in Bournemouth, England.
Ally
Co-founder of The Mysterious Bookcase. Ally has been an avid reader her whole life and loves to share her passion for books with everyone. Her favourite genre is fantasy, and she would one day like to write a book of her own. Running this business has been an absolute dream for her, her only problem is adding books from the business to her TBR pile and then wanting to keep them in her personal collection.
Matt
Co-founder of The Mysterious Bookcase. Matt is more of a casual reader, but he loves to collect books and has a passion for all things mystery. In addition to hand picking all the books for The Mysterious Bookcase, he likes to search for limited editions, signed copies and antique books. Matt also works hard behind the scenes to pick books for your order and create unique graphic designs for the business.
Harry
Supervisor at The Mysterious Bookcase. Harry enjoys overseeing and supervising daily tasks for the business. While he doesn't read at all, he likes to check that books have been wrapped and packaged correctly, and he does snuggle with Ally and Matt when they have a book in hand. Unfortunately, Harry often sleeps on the job but luckily, he works for free.
